Preiss, Singer & Kaufman - Creativity, Innovation, and Change Across Cultures
Preiss, D. D., Singer, M., & Kaufman, J. C. (Eds.) (2023). Creativity, Innovation, and Change Across Cultures. Cham: Palgrave Macmillan. ISBN: 978-3-031-28205-8
This edited collection offers several interdisciplinary, multicultural, and international perspectives on the interrelation between creativity, culture, innovation, and change. Its 17 chapters are divided into five parts, devoted to educational and developmental explorations of the topic, changes in organisations and work, sociocultural changes, creativity and innovation as vehicles for cultural change, and future frameworks for creativity. The disciplinary views of the covered topics include psychology, education, social sciences, the humanities, and engineering. In the included theoretical and empirical contributions, the use of the term ‘culture’ refers to sociocultural differences, educational culture, media culture, organisational culture, technological culture, ethnic differences within a culture, and digital culture. Each contributor presents their contextualised perspective on these issues in an effort to show how the connection between creativity and culture can help resolve current social, environmental, technological, and economic challenges. The overall message is that utilised social and cultural concepts need to be nuanced, and that scientific learnings on which to base the discussion of the topic continue to change and evolve over time.
