Antonsich, M. (2016).  Interculturalism versus multiculturalism – The Cantle-Modood debate. Ethnicities, 16(3): 470–493. https://doi.org/10.1177/1468796815604558

This section from Ethnicities features contributions by Marco Antonsich, Ted Cantle, Tariq Modood, and Raffaele Iacovino on differences between intercultural and multicultural approaches in public policy. They were prepared following a discussion organised in 2015 at Loughborough University (UK), in which Cantle and Modood addressed a question becoming ever more central to contemporary societies: ‘how to live together in diversity?’ As the editor of the section says, with societies becoming increasingly diverse, the question is no longer how to live with, but in diversity. The contributions in this journal section offer nuanced discussions of different topics and problems connected with potential answers to the central question of how to approach contemporary social diversity.
