Kong - From precarious labor to precarious economy?

Kong, L. (2011). From precarious labor to precarious economy? Planning for precarity in Singapore's creative economy. City, Culture and Society, 2(2): 55-64.

This article is important for two reasons: (1) it outlines a set of concepts connected to the notion of creative labour and can serve as a good overview of the subject matter; (2) it presents a case of a country with a strong tradition of economic planning (Singapore) coming to grips with a kind of economy in which there exists a great deal more of amorphousness than had previously been the case. The presented methods in mapping and measurement as well as experiments in labour organisation, management, and education still have relevance in the efforts to rethink the legislative regulation of the creative sector and counter the growth of precarious labour.
