Gielen Develops, amongst other things, a cartography of community art through which concrete projects can be mapped, in terms of their subversive or digestive nature or in terms of the orientation of participating artists toward individualism or towards other people. The result is a compass rose which enables the full diversity of possible community art projects to be visualized in a single image. This serves as a prelude to Gielen's extensive consideration of the subversive possibilities of various practices.
